1.0 About Course

ISO 17020:2012 Lead Auditor Conversion  course is the highest level certification for assessors of  Quality Management System  accreditation of Inspection Bodies. You will learn how to audit QMS against ISO 17020:2012 standard in accordance with ISO 19011:2018. You will receive a Certificate of Achievement issued by TCB as an IACET USA Accredited Provider with 3.5  IACET CEU  as per ANSI /IACET 1:2018 standard for global recognition.

This course equips the professional with the knowledge & skills required to plan perform and report and follow up a Quality management system of an inspection body  as per the accreditation standard ISO 17020:2012

This  course is delivered in 24-hour guided Sessions (3 Days X 8 Hours/Day or 6 Days X 4 Hours/day ) . This comes with an IACET CEU, granted by TCB Cert. Worldwide LLC, an IACET USA Accredited Provider

This professional-level certification course is considered to be the highest qualification for auditors for assessing conformity of  inspection bodies  against ISO 17020 the international standard for accreditation

2.0 Course Objectives

This course is aimed at professionals who want to

  •  Develop competence to plan, perform, report, and follow up Quality Management system audit as per  ISO 17020:2012 in accordance with ISO 19011:2018 and ISO 17021:2015 Standard as applicable,
  • Successfully certified personnel shall able to conduct Internal and External third-party audits on behalf of the Accreditation bodies for independent third-party Accreditations .

3.0 Prior Knowledge Requirements

Learners joining this course must have completed  a full 40 hours of Management system auditor courses that included Planning, Performing , Reporting and follow-up of an audit as per ISO 19011:2018 and Iso 17021:2015

  • Purpose and benefit of ISO 17020:2012 standard,
  • PDCA Model
  • Terms and Definitions and Familiarity with ISO 17020:2012  standard
  • knowledge of audit principles , processes, auditors attributes, skill sets , how to plan , and perform audit including conducting opening and closing meeting gained through  successful completion of a complete management system auditor training of 40 hours duration (e.g ISO 9001:2015 Auditor/Lead Auditor Course)
  • You will be required to provide a valid certificate  of  Lead Auditor Course acceptable to TCB. Accredited Certificates such as CQI/IRCA or IACET, or Exemplar Global is acceptable .

4.0 Learning Process

The delegates shall attend the full 24-hour tutor  sessions either in person or Virtually Live

Upon registration, you will receive a set of standards (ISO ISO 17020: 2012, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 19011:2018 for self-study .

In the self study preparation Stage , you will complete the following Chapters and quizzes. In Stage 2 we will have an overview of these learning areas by Q&A, Clarifying doubts to enter stage 2 for a seamless learning experience

For in-person tutor-guided sessions, the learners shall be provided with one set of books and study materials, case studies, and output forms. For Virtual Learning in Stage 2, the learners shall gain access to TCB LMS, download the Course materials, and print a copy for reference during the course

The course can be customized to be presented in 3 full days X 8 Hours/day, 6 days X 4 Hours/day for the convenience of the learners. Upon successful continuous assessment based on their performance, contribution, and participation in the workshop the learners shall write the Virtually live proctored exam conducted by TCB ,

Workshop  Exercise-Task, Activities, and Role Plays to be completed in tutor-guided sessions based on TCB’s  contiguous Case study Materials)

Overview of ISO 17020:2012 standard

A Sample Contiguous case study of TCB for its QMS as per  ISO 17020:2012 . You will review a sample documents, procedures, Inspection attributes, and all records of a living system that has been accredited by  Gulf Accreditation Centre (GAC ) the Accreditation body of the Six GCC Countries  a full member of ILAC.  The case studies are most realistic and would give you a real life  experience  of auditing of an Inspection Body for its conformity to ISO 17020:2012 requirements .

5.0 Examination and Evaluation 

Upon completion of the training. TCB shall examine the entire standard and Audit process using a state of art software “Classmarker”. This is a fully Computer-based exam with objective type questions, single-choice and multi-choice,  subjective and essay-type questions,  mix& match, and true & false questions with a duration of two and half hours.

The exam shall be proctored online live on a given schedule by a live proctor. The exam link shall be shared with a password. The learners shall write the exam and answers will be automatically saved even if not submitted by the learners. The learners can go back to improve or correct earlier answers and can move to the next questions by putting a simple “?” mark and flag the question to come back again. In this process, TCB will be able to assess the learning outcomes of each learner and provide individual feedback on their strength and weaknesses for them to know the areas of strength and areas that need to strengthen.

The exam is an open book where the learners can refer to the standard and notes taken, dictionary except reference to online resources. Taking Picture of the screen and with the external device is prohibited. Learners can not Cut and paste, all answers have to be typed using a normal Keyboard. We recommend a Laptop or a desktop, a reasonably good speed 4G. Once the results are marked by the evaluators in the class markers software,  the learners will get their certificate in their email box instantly with 2.4 IACET CEU which is a global gold standard as per American standard ANSI/IACET 1:2018 standard

What is the correct duration of the course. ?
40 Hours total , for Blended learning 2 days equivalent self Learning followed by 3 days -24 Hours Tutor Guided sessions . 2 Hours 15 Min is included in 40 hours overall course duration, Anything less than this is a gross deviation to CQI/IRCA requirement
Some providers complete a regular course in 5 days ,5 Hours per day evening, is it acceptable?
No. Its a blatant deviation and serious mal-administration of the training by the providers and a serious noncompliance to CQI/IRCA requirement and you must know this as customers of training providers. Blended Course can be presented in 5 days X 5 Hours or customized to cover 24 hours in 3 days or multiple No. of days with shorter modules per day after the learners complete their self learning before joining Tutor guided session. There must be verifiable evidence of learners self study. TCB requires the learners to complete the self study within a maximum of 90 days , complete all the self study assignments and quizzes. They will then receive a self-learning completion certificate. The learner can then joins the Tutor guided sessions .
Will my personal information be protected? Can anyone else get to know my results from TCB?
Your personal information remains absolutely safe and secure in full compliance with our Privacy protection policy and GDPR. Your results or confidential information shall not be shared with any third party
Who will issue the certificate for this course?
The Certificates shall be issued by TCB Cert. Worldwide LLC as a CQI/IRCA Approved Training Partner. TCB shall also award a certificate of Sucessful Completion with IACET Accredited CEU as an Accredited Provider.
What is the validity of the Certificate?
For the purpose of CQI/IRCA Registration , the certificate remains valid for 5 years from the date of the course . Certificates with IACET CEU has no expiry
How can I renew my certifications?
CQI/IRCA publishes renewal criteria typically you need to attend a transition course, Maintained an Audit Log sheet (if you are involved in auditing) and CPD Log sheet, and s document your learning. The courses must be approved by CQI/IRCA. Please contact TCB for renewal .write to tsa@tr-cbl.com
Will the virtual course and in-person course certificate be the same?
Yes. Both the mode of training are approved by CQI/IRCA. The learning outcome remains consistent based on CQI/IRCA certification scheme. There is no difference in the certificates issued for Virtual , in-person as well as Blended courses
What if any person scores below minimum qualifying marks?
He /she will get a Certificate of Attendance. A certificate of attendance is not acceptable to CQI/IRCA for granting registration. The delegates can write a retest exam within 1 year using a different Questions assigned by TCB
How will the examination be conducted?
The CQI/IRCA exams are conducted by CQI/IRCA using their AI driven platform called SARAS. You can take up the exam from anywhere, any time with 30 days of the course-the date will be given in the examination link that you be sent to you in your designated mail by CQI/IRCA once your details are provided by the ATP. e.g TCB once you join the course This is a Computer Based Test. Please refer TCB resources in YouTube for gaining more insight on the exam process
Is it an open book or a closed book Exam?
Its an open book exam. You can refer copies of the ISO 9000:2015, 9001:2015 and 19011:2018 standards including Notes taken during the course .
What are the Types of Questions we will need to answer?
All answers are objective, single choice, Multichoice, Fill in the blanks , mix and match type. There are 5 sections. In each section minimum qualifying score shall be 40% and an average of 50% covering all the five sections
Will I get any extra time since my first language is not English?
Exam takers whose first language is English they will get 1 Hours 45 Mins to write the exam . Non native English exam takers writing examination in English will be granted 30 minutes extra time
Is there any extra time allowed for physical challenges temporary of permanent disability to write exam at a normal pace?
For an exam taker suffers from momentary sickness, dyslexia and other ailment that limits their ability to write exams at normal pace , a further and extra time of 30 min may be allowed as reasonable adjustment . The reasonable adjustment shall be requested in advance with the doctor's prescription or an advice
How will I be informed about the TCB examination process with IACET CEU?
TCB tutoring team will inform and familiarize you with the examination process and marking guides during the course.. You will be familiarized with Classmarker software used by TCB . Results and the certificates shall be issued within 15 days by TCB
What are the system requirements for online Examination?
Good internet connection, Laptop/Desktop with the camera. A quiet noise-free comfortable place /work station is highly recommended.
What if the time gets over before I can complete the answers?
The Exam will automatically end and be submitted after time gets over in the virtual examination. All the answers will be saved automatically and you will receive a notification
What if there is a power failure and I get disconnected from the Virtual platform ?
For CQI/IRCA Approved Exam, if there is a power failure, you can reconnect . For repeated disconnection , the exam will be abandoned and you have to take a new fresh exam .For IACET courses, you have to contact the Training and service Administrator of TCB immediately . You can continue the examination if there is no power failure at your end and the connection will be re-established using emergency power backup
How will I be informed of the results?
You will receive results via email from TCB
When will I get my Certificates?
Typically the certificates are issued within 10 working days of the examination and no later than 15 working days
Will I get a Hardcopy of Printed Certificate in original?
You can collect it from TCB office or It can be sent by registered post at your address, For Virtual courses, the hard copies are posted via speed post. Digital certificates are issued within 10-15 working days

How many times can I write a retest of CQI/IRCA Courses?
One retest within 1 years from the date of the course.
What if I missed the 30 days deadline to write the first examination?
You will be shown as no show. However you can write one exam and lose the opportunity to write retest just incase of an unsatisfactory result of the exam
Can I get online access to TCB Course in its website if I join a regular course virtual or in-person?
Yes you can get 2 Months access to TCB Course materials regardless of the mode of your studies . However your assignment and quiz results shall not be moderated for regular course. For Blended Course, you must complete self study and assignments before joining the Tutor guided sessions to complete skill based learning part e.g Course workshops, Audit document preparation tasks and audit role play activities and complete the training before you can take up the exams
What is the duration of the course presented in Virtually Live or In-person course
40 Hours. Only 10% time can be reduced for refreshment breaks such as lunch and other breaks. The tutor guided seat time can not be less than 36 Hours including 2 Hours 15 Minutes of Exam time
What is the self learning and Tutor guided session duration and process in Blended Learning
Self study can be completed at self pace. For TCB course within 60 days using TCB LMS and must submit all assignments and complete Quizzes. This will be considered equivalent to 16 Hours . Once completed , within next 90 days , the learners must complete the Tutor Guided Sessions . the duration is equivalent to 24 Hours . The study must be completed in 6 months time from the date of enrollment. The tutor moderated session , tasks and workshops and simulated audits may be presented in Virtually live class or in-person
How will I get the Course materials and standards to refer for the course?
You can download the standards from TCB online store for free once you are registered as a learner, Other course materials can be accessed in TCB LMS and also downloaded from the LMS
Is the Certificates issued by IRCA?
No. CQI/IRCA Does not issue any certificates. The Certificate shall be issued by TCB as a CQI/IRCA Approved Training Partner. TCB will complete the training. Upload your data in CQI/IRCA Portal. You will receive Unique Learner No. for traceability. You will get practive as well as final exam Question links. Practice exam can be taken up 99 times within 30 days of the course completion. Final exam must be taken within 30 days. We recommend you to write the exams on 21st/22nd days -except Monday morning. CQI/IRCA send result updates to TCB for TCB Learners. TCB shall issue the Certificate in CQI/IRCA Approved Template using TCB as well as CQI/IRCA Logo. This is valid all over the world. You can see the appearance of TCB certificate in the course page
Can I get refund if TCB course is cancelled ?
Yes, you will get a full refund as per the TCB cancellation policy, if canceled 2 weeks before the course
