A Course developed as per IPC Certification Scheme IPC-PL-14-04, Issue 3, Appendix 4 which is recognized as international benchmark for certification of persons.

Course Details

The Certified  OH&S professional,  80 hours course is divided into various modules as folows

Module 1: OH& S Management: General:6 hours

Section 1: Terminologies relating to Occupational Health and Safety : Seat Time 2Hrs

Section 2: Hazard Identification and Risk Management: 4 Hours 

  • Hazards, Risk. Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis
  • Various techniques of Hazard Identification and risk assessment
  • Fundamentals Hazard and Operability Studies HAZOP, Failure mode and Effect analysis(FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) , Event Tree Analysis (ETA)
  • Swiss Cheese model, Unsafe Condition , Unsafe Act and Causal Factors for incident/accident.
  • Developing  Occupational Health and Safety Policy, objectives and Program
  • Proactive Safety and Reactive safety Measure
  • Safety Statistics and Performance calculation from operational data

Module 2: OH&S Hazards and Risk associated with place of work   30 Hours

  • Working at Height and fall protection. 2 hrs (including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Safety During Excavation work 2 Hrs (including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Safe Scaffold Erection and Inspection -3 Hrs  (including 15 Minutes Quiz and 30 Minutes Practical on inspection of scaffold
  • Ergonomics :1 Hours
  • Safe Rigging and Lifting operations-2 Hr (including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Safe Confined Space Entry-2 Hr(including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Electrical safety Lock out/tag Out-2 Hr(including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • H2S and Breathing Apparatus 3 hrs (including 15 Minutes Quiz and SCBA Donning)
  • Safe Driving Practices-2 hr (including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Gas Cutting and Welding- 2  Hrs(including 15 Minutes Quiz)
  • Blasting and Painting- 1 Hr.
  • Fire Extinguishers and Basic Fire fighting : 3 Hrs including 15 Minutes Quiz and 1 Hours Practical)
  • Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)- 1 Hour
  • Behavior Based Safety-2 Hours
  • Typical Safety Hazard in Office-1 Hour
  • Typical Safety Hazard at Home-1 Hour

Training method includes tutor guided sessions, videos, study materials, guides, OHS laws and regulations, OSHA Act. Etc.

Module 3 : Practical assignment-Hazard Hunt (visual inspection and report preparation)2 hours

Module 4: OH&S Management System as per OHSAS 18001:2007. 16 hours 

*       Concept of First party Second Party and Third Party Auditing

*       Introduction to ILO standard

*       Awareness of OHSAS 18001:2007 (ISO/DIS 45001:2016) standard and its interpretation which includes :

  • PDCA model in OHSAS 18001:2007 standard
  • OH&S Policy, Objectives, Targets and Programs ,
  • Leadership ,Resources
  • Legal and Other requirements
  • Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and determining controls(Risk control Hierarchy)
  • Operational Control

  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause analysis

  • OH&S Documentation as per OHSAS 18001:2007 standard

*       Implementation of  OH&S Management system as per OHSAS 18001:2007

*       Determination of objective Evidence for conformity assessment

Module 5 OH&S Management System Audit as per ISO 19011:2011 standard: 24 hours 

*       Conformity assessment as per OHSAS 18001:2007/  or ISO/DIS 45001:2016 standard-Workshop

*       Audit Planning –workshop Prepare a sample audit plan for a Tank Farm management company

*       Preparation of Audit Check List for the audit-Workshop

*       Performing a mock audit of an Oil Tank farm-Simulated Audit role play

*       Presenting audit Observation and Recommendation -Simulated Audit role play

  • Opening meeting, Closing meeting and Presentation of Observation and recommendation

Certification Examination: Covering Module 1, Module 4 and Module 5

Independent Examination administered by accredited PCB as per ISO 17024 (3 hours)

Important Note:

  • Successful completion of course curriculum is a pre-requisite for the certification examination.
  • Certification shall be granted to applicants competing both Certification Examination as well as  submission of Hazard Hunt Report.
